New Start
Dallas Designing Dreams’ New Start is a self-help program that invites agencies to equip their clients with new skills that can lead to long-term employment or entrepreneurship.
Through its skill-based curriculum and hands-on instruction, the New Start project will use product development as a vehicle for increasing self-esteem and motivation and exposing individuals to a creative outlet with potential employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.
The goal of the program will be to select candidates with a high level of interest and suitability for the program and provide instruction and support in an environment that will help them to develop their abilities and gifts, realize their aspirations, and learn to practice self-discipline, focus and creative problem-solving. Participants will also learn through practice the skills and behaviors that employers expect in the workplace. During the apprenticeship period, Dallas Designing Dreams will showcase and sell products the apprentices created for one year, providing the trainees increased motivation and confidence and a potential revenue source.
